MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATIONS

A Member is a person who has been elected and inducted into Lambda Alpha International. Such person is a Member of Lambda Alpha International forever and as such, regardless of any other membership status, shall remain on the roster of the Chapter where inducted and on the roster of Lambda Alpha International unless such member shall formally resign as set forth in Section 6 of the Constitution. Status as a member has no other benefits than listing unless holding a suffix member designation with payment of commensurate dues.

Active Member, Chapter:

A Member who currently pays dues to both a Chapter and Lambda Alpha International.
Active Member-At-Large:
A Member who currently pays At-Large dues. Members-At-Large play an important role in fostering LAI growth and development, especially in locations where LAI is attempting to establish active LAI Chapters as a result of the efforts of Members-At-Large who re-located from other cities with active Chapters or those who were recommended for Member-At-Large status by friends and associates.

Emeritus Member:
A Member of Lambda Alpha International who has maintained active status for twenty (20) years, has served in leadership positions at the Chapter or International level; and has retired from professional work associated with land economics. A nomination for Emeritus status may be made by vote of a Chapter's Board and/or by the International Board. All Emeritus elections shall be ratified by the International Board of Governors. There shall be no International or Chapter dues required of Emeritus Members.
Honorary Member:
For purposes of recognizing individuals who, by the nature of their professional background, are not otherwise eligible for nomination and induction into Lambda Alpha International, but who, by their contributions to the furtherance of the mission of Lambda Alpha International, deserve recondition. Honorary Membership may be nominated by a Chapter or by petition of twenty active At-Large Members of Lambda Alpha and elected by the LAI Board of Governors. Honorary members are not required to pay dues.
International Fellow of Lambda Alpha:
For purposes of recognizing an Active Member whose efforts have significantly advanced the purposes, organization, or growth of Lambda Alpha International. Fellowship shall be conferred only by the LAI Board of Governors and no more than two fellowships shall be conferred in each calendar year. The title of International Fellow is additive to any other category of membership except Honorary Member.
Retired Member:
A Member of Lambda Alpha International who, regardless of years as an Active Member, has retired from significant income-producing involvement in work associated with land economics. Significant income shall be defined as earnings no more than the maximum allowed by the U.S. Social Security system to retain full benefits in that system or the equivalent system in another country. Determination of retired status rests solely with the individual and a member who is in fact retired but wishes to do so may continue to have Active Member status by paying Active Member dues.
Inactive Member:
A Member who is not currently paying dues.
