Time is closing in quickly on the Weekend Experience to be held May 1-4, 2003 in San Diego.

Highlights of the Weekend include four-star hotel accommodations at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, private motor coach tours of San Diego, including La Jolla, the Salk Institute, Scripps Institute of Oceanography and the Burnham Institute, San Diego Zoo Twilight Bus Tour with cocktails and dinner, and other important venues.

Prominent speakers include Gail Naughton, Dean of the San Diego State University's business school and co-founder of Advanced Tissue Sciences, John Davies, Chairman of the U.C. Board of Regents, former director and president of San Diego's Centre City Development Corporation, and chair of the San Diego Planning Commission.

Golden Gate Chapter

Robert Bruegmann, Chairperson, Art History and Professor in Department of Art History, School of Architecture, Program in Urban Planning, University of Illinois at Chicago will be the featured speaker April 16th at noon in Chicago on "Sprawl and the Fate of the Inner City." In Memoriam:

Former Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan died on March 26, 2003.

Senator Moynihan was awarded LAI's International Urban Affairs Award at the 1997 Biennial Congress in Memphis. As a citizen and government official, Senator Moynihan played a leading role in the revitalization of Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. and the conservation of important Washington landmarks including the National Building Museum, the Old Post Office Building and Daniel Burnham's Union Station. Throughout his professional and political career he provided continuing support of urban affairs, architecture and urban planning.
