Flower Power in Central SoMa

The Flower Mart Project will create a vibrant new, mixed-use development while preserving a San Francisco institution – the wholesale flower market

San Francisco’s Central SoMa neighborhood was the subject of a nearly decade-long planning effort that culminated in the adoption of the Central SoMa Plan in 2018, and the approval of several large, mixed-use developments beginning in 2019. The development agreement for the largest of these, the Flower Mart Project, was approved by the Board of Supervisors in January 2020. Kilroy Realty Corporation has partnered with San Francisco Flower Mart LLC to build a new wholesale flower market to replace the existing market at Sixth & Brannan Streets as that site is transformed into a vibrant, mixed-use development with more than 2 million square feet of office space, making it one of the largest and most ambitious development projects in the history of San Francisco. Construction on the first phase is scheduled to begin in late 2021.

Join us for a presentation on the design and planning of this iconic development. From the date of the developer’s acquisition of the property in 2014 to the final approval of the Development Agreement by the Board in 2020, the proposal evolved along with the Central SoMa Plan and the neighborhood.  Hear about all of the work that went into the Flower Mart Project from two of the people closely involved in the process from the very beginning: Alexandra Stoelzle, Director of Development and Land Planning at Kilroy Realty Corporation, and Ben Toam, Lead Designer on the Project and Partner at Otherworks.

For members and up to 2 guests.
