Color of Law II: Equitable Residential Appraisals –
An interview with Craig Steinley, President, Appraisal Institute
by Jonathan Miller, President, Miller Samuel, Inc.

The Appraisal Institute provides an array of professional education and advocacy programs, leading to the opportunity for members to hold professional designations of MAI, SRA, AI-GRS and AI-RRS. Organized in 1932, the Appraisal Institute advocates equal opportunity and nondiscrimination in the appraisal profession and conducts its activities in accordance with US federal, state and local laws. Its mission is to empower valuation professionals through community, credentialing, education, body of knowledge and ethical standards (https://www.appraisalinstitute.org/about/). Recently, the Appraisal Institute has been engaged with PAVE, the interagency task force on property appraisal and valuation equity, chaired by HUD and including 13 Federal agencies dedicated to ending bias in home valuation. President Craig Steinley will be speaking with distinguished New York appraiser Jonathon Miller on the responses of the Appraisal Institute to the PAVE initiative. This is the 4th in a series of webinars sponsored by the LAI Global Initiatives Committee under the title Color of Law II: Equitable Residential Appraisals. This event is co-hosted by the LAI New York chapter.
